This temple was founded in the fifteenth century AD by Pedanda Bawu Rawuh or Danghyang Nirartha from Majapahit Kingdom, East Java. The Tanah Lot Temple is located at sea or separated from the mainland. Around the temple, there are also several small and big temples such as the Pekendungan Temple. Below and in the west, there are sources of fresh water becoming the holy water to the Hindus. Tanah Lot Temple is situated at Beraban Village, Kediri Subdistrict, approximately 13 km from the town of Tabanan. This destination has been completed with adequate parking lot. During the low tide, visitors can directly get to the court of the temple to pray. Below the temple lie several caves where some black-white sea snakes live. These snakes are very tame and may not be disturbed. If the tide goes up, this temple will look like a floating boat in the water. At Tanah Lot, we can witness the emergence of full moon at night and sunset on the west horizon. Both equally offer amazing attraction to see.
