It Presents Gong Kebyar Competition

Buleleng Festival (Bulfest) will be held again in 2015. This year, the Bulfest will be held on the upcoming August 4-8. The theme featured is ‘Gurmitaning Den Bukit’ signifying the rumble of music in Buleleng. It is also in accordance with the mission of Bulfest this year namely exploring the art of music in Buleleng.
The type of music explored is ranging from the traditional to modern music. On that account, at the opening of the Bulfest 2015 will be displayed gong kebyar en masse. The Buleleng Culture and Tourism Agency has planned a total of 20 troupes of gong kebyar will appear at the opening.

The Head of the Buleleng Culture and Tourism Agency, Gede Suyasa, explained that 20 gong kebyar troupes will appear simultaneously. Each troupe will also present Teruna Jaya Dance simultaneously. “Gong Kebyar and Teruna Jaya Dance are deliberately chosen as representation of the typical arts of Buleleng. Both arts are known to be created by the artists of North Bali,” he said.

The art troupes eligible to appear at the opening of the Bulfest will be selected by a team of the Culture and Tourism Agency and Cultural Advisory and Development Council (Listibya) of Buleleng. “The selection is based on various considerations, where one of which is having appeared in the arena of county level,” he concluded.
