“Quite tasty” and “lots of different types” were some of the comments given by a travelers named Lyila from New Zealand while she visits the Seventh Denpasar Festival (Denfest), Monday (Dec 29). She and her partner chose to try some typical Balinese foods that had been prepared to accommodate international tastes. “We have tried several dishes on offer at the Denfest, one of which is the Jinggo rice,” she said.
According to Lyila, the Denfest was remarkable because it offered really typical Balinese cuisine, like the Jinggo Rice, that might be difficult to find otherwise. However, she said that the Denfest did a poor job of promoting itself to tourists. “If possible, promotion of the next year’s Denfest should be increased by included the program of events in the Lonely Planet (denoting a guide book for foreign travelers visiting the region Ed.)”, she hoped.
Meanwhile, Karsana, one of the Jinggo rice vendors said that the Jenggo rice had received an enthusiastic reception from many people visiting the festival. Even, foreign travelers seemed to enjoy the Balinese culinary delight. On the first day, Karsana’s Batan Poh Jingo Rice stand sold IDR 5.5 million worth of ‘nasi jingo’. “This is the first time that we participate (as vendors) in the Denfest. (BTN/015)
