If you are looking for a comfortable destination, try Blimbingsari village, Jembrana County. This village offers a beautiful panorama with some areas lying in lowlands, while the rest consists of highland, mountains and hills. In the middle of the village, stretches an asphalt road that at first glance looks like a large cross. Blimbingsari offers a cool atmosphere with Melaya village to the south, a teak forest to the north and west, and Ekasari village to the east. Blimbingsari is a new village whose existence is closely connected to the development of Christianity on the Island of Bali.
According to the story of local community leaders, the village was established about 60 years ago. At the time, the eastern regions of Bali were opened to cultural development and new populations and religions other than local Balinese Hinduism began to develop here. Driven to look for a better life, with the approval of the government, in August 1936 three people from Badung set off to look for new land in the region. They were: Luh Wartini (I Made Sela), I Nyoman Regig and Mas Renggo’ grand-parents. At that time, the Sedahan Agung of Negara was Gusti Bagus Wastra Utama. He accompanied these delegates to investigate the land in the area of Melaya. The then chief of Melaya –Jero Sentoso, welcomed the delegates.
The land that they visited was close the to forest which meant that there were many wild animals around. Despite this, the three delegates still thought that the land would be suitable for them. During a meeting with Rad Parikian at Sading the three messengers reported the results of their investigation and finally on November 30, 1939 the forest was opened up to settlement and 30 families set off to start their new life..
These pioneers of Blimbingsari village, armed with the slogan ora et labora (pray and work) joyfully opened the land to be used as a village. After spending five months clearing the forest, the region was finally ready to be inhabited. There is an abundance of starfruit (belimbing) trees in the area which is what inspired the name of the village: Blimbingsari.
