It is situated at Lebah hamlet, Bedulu village, Blahbatuh subdistrict, Gianyar, or approximately 20 km from the city of Denpasar. It has very cool atmosphere because perching on a cliff top of Petanu River.

The temple area is often used as trekking route by nature lovers. Travelers usually prefer to have a promenade from Goa Gajah towards the south. Along the journey, travelers can feel typical aura because it belongs to sacred area or a place to carry out purificatory rite or melukat. There visitor will see the sudamala shower, go up to the temple and sanctuary and ultimately arrive at Dedari Temple.
The priest of Dedari Temple, Gusti Ngurah Agung, said that the temple is estimated to have existed during the administration of King Udayana. Although it is called Dedari Temple, physically in the temple area there is no dedari or angel. However, spiritualists often see a beautiful woman like an angel. “During the establishment of a villa situated on the cliff of the temple, construction workers often see a beautiful woman and then he asked me. Previously, no one saw it. Honestly, I’ve never seen it,” he explained.

According to the priest, spiritualists often conduct meditation or yoga. Reportedly they see the temple area as a very beautiful village. The others see it like a geriya (house of high priest), a place to hang gold located in north of the Dedari Temple. This temple has a spring with constant volume of water even though in rainy and dry seasons.

The water of shower is used to for purificatory rite. Other than the Dedari Temple, there is also a shrine as representation of Ratu on Mount Agung, Ratu on Mountain Lebah, on Mount Batukaru and Uluwatu. It belongs to ancient temple. “At this temple, people also invoke the divine inspiration of performing arts, healing of the sick and others,” he said.

By and large, travelers from Australia and Europe like doing meditation at this temple. Local people also used to do meditation here. “Guests from Australia say that it is a very nice place to meditate. It is said there are many villages whose people often play gamelan music and dance. “Once upon a time, a man directly danced when he arrived at the temple. He said that he saw a man dancing, so that he was interested to follow,” he said.

Piodalan or birthday of the Dedari Temple falls every six months exactly on Buda Umanis Kulantir. However, when a piodalan is celebrated with small ritual, another will be celebrated with grandiose ritual. Most people of Bedulu will come to temple to say prayers on the piodalan. The others are from Tengkulak, Pejeng and Wanayu village. “As the descendants of Arya Pengalasan across Bali, we greatly support the Dedari Temple,” he said. (BTN/015)
